Godrej Appliances has partnered with Times Internet’s online shopping portal Shopping.Indiatimes.com, to launch its first online store http://godrej.indiatimes.com/. Currently , Godrej Appliances sells its products through various multi-brand online portals. With the launch of this e-commerce store, consumers will now be able to shop online for appliances like microwaves, refrigerators, air-conditioners and washing machines. The logistics and shipping will be handled by Godrej Appliances through its 31 depots across the country.
Godrej Appliances is targeting Rs 15 crore annual sales through its online store with Indiatimes in the first year. It is targeting revenue of Rs 100 crore over the next five years through the Indiatimes online stores.
Commenting on the launch, Kamal Nandi, executive VP, sales & marketing, Godrej Appliances said, “Given the increase in online shopping, Godrej was keen to reach out to its customers on the online platform . With our expertise in the best in class products space and indiatimes.com’s expertise in the online retail space, we hope to bring greater value.” He further added that, Godrej Appliances is expecting Rs 8-10 crore sales from online trading during 2012-13 through 4-5 e-commerce portals like HomeShope18.Com.
Subhanker Sarker, COO, Indiatimes shopping said,”"This is a strategic alliance for us. This is our second exclusive tie up with an offline company. Earlier we had tied up with Nokia.”
Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co has two plants for home appliances at Mohali in Punjab and Shirwal near Pune in Maharashtra. These plants have a total production capacity of 24 lakh units annually and roll out goods like washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners and microwaves. The company had invested Rs 100 crore to expand the capacity to 24 lakh units from the earlier 18 lakh units.
