Amazon.com launches Amazon Instant Video App for iPad

Amazon.com has launched the Amazon Instant Video App for iPad that would enable Apple iPad users to stream or download Amazon Instant Video movies and TV episodes from their video library directly on their iPad. With this app, members of Amazon Prime, a free shipping program which costs USD 79 a year, have access to more than 20,000 titles from Prime Instant Video, for instant streaming on their iPad at no additional cost. These include hit TV shows like Glee, Downton Abbey and Fringe, or popular movies such as Mission: Impossible 3, Mean Girls and Ocean’s Eleven.

Commenting on this launch, Anthony Bay, Amazon.com vice president for video said,” We want to give customers the convenience of being able to watch all of their movies and TV episodes, wherever they are, on their iPad. Today we’re excited to extend our ‘buy once, enjoy everywhere’ approach to iPad, giving customers the chance to enjoy more than 120,000 titles from Amazon Instant Video and more than 20,000 titles from Prime Instant Video anytime, anywhere”.

In order to watch movies or TV episodes from Amazon Instant Video on iPad, users have to simply search for the content they’ve already rented or purchased from Amazon Instant Video. The app is free, and compatible with any iPad running on iOS 4.3 or later.
