Online retailer Amazon launched the Amazon Appstore in March last year, causing uproar with the Apple camp, which cited trademark infringement over the use of the term ‘App Store’.
However, the Amazon Appstore is still standing tall, rising from 4,000 apps at its original launch to 31,000 apps, which have been downloaded “millions” of times.
The marketplace is open to all users of Android-powered devices, though Amazon’s key interest will be with its Kindle Fire customers using the platform to purchase its premium content.
To celebrate its first year of operation, the firm is offering deals on apps including Fruit Ninja, Tetris, TuneIn Radio Pro, Pac-Man and more, while a sweepstake with secure eight customers a Kindle Fire.
