Continuing with its spate of acquisitions, Yahoo! has acquired video share app Qwiki and email management app Xobni. While, Qwiki is a New York City based startup automated video production company, Xobni is a San Francisco-based startup founded in 2006.
The Qwiki app automatically turns pictures and videos that you already have on your iPhone into quick, beautiful movies to share, including transitions and a soundtrack. Announcing this the Yahoo blog stated,” We will continue to support the Qwiki app, and the team will join Yahoo! in our New York city office to reimagine Yahoo!’s storytelling experience.”
Yahoo said it will integrate Xobni’s technology into its communications products, including the mobile and PC versions of its email and instant messaging services. Following the acquisition, 31 Xobni employees will be joining Yahoo, including Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bonforte, who previously worked at Yahoo.
