Yesterday Twitter announced updates for its iOS and Android apps along with its mobile website. These updates aimed to facilitate content search on Twitter, can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store.
With these latest updates, when a user searches for important Twitter moments, they may see a Top Tweet separate from the rest of the results. This Tweet is the best match for their query based on relevance and engagement. To see additional Tweets from this time period, users have to tap on “View more from this time.”
Some features introduced specifically on Twitter for iPhone and iPad are:
- Tweets and web browsing: When users open a link from a Tweet in their timeline, they’ll see that Tweet displayed at the bottom of the app’s built-in web browser. This provides additional context to the page they’re viewing, and makes it easy for them to retweet, favorite or reply to the Tweet as they’re reading an article or watching a video. Users who don’t want to see the Tweet, can simply tap the page and the Tweet will slide away from view. By pulling up or down on the tray icon, the Tweet will appear or disappear from view.
- Autocomplete: The autocomplete feature will help a user in keying a search or composing a Tweet. This feature will provide the user with more hashtag, topic and username suggestions. Besides this, autocomplete suggestions for topic searches will be updated more frequently and feel real-time.
