On 12-12-12, Google India had organised the Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF), the first industry-wide 24-hour online shopping festival. The festival saw participation from over 50 leading eCommerce companies in India, which included shopping.indiatimes.com, jabong.com, zovi, myntra, makemytrip, Gili, offering discounts up to 60%.
The participants of the Great Online Shopping Festival reported 50-80% jump in sales, with apparel, footwear, high-end TVs, mobile phones and jewellery being hot favourites. Apart from increase in traffic and sales, the GOSF Participants also found that order values were higher than average – in the case of apparel site zovi.com, three times its average.
Indiatimes.com saw a 40% hike in traffic and 70% of its GOSF transactions were made by customers who hadn’t previously shopped at Indiatimes.Myntra.com reported a 75% increase in traffic and over 120% jump in sales. Online travel portal Goibibo reported a a 20% increase in new users, while its sister concern, Tradus, which retails electronics to fashion products, reported a rise of 40% in new user logins. Flash sale site Fashion & You reported a 100% growth in average daily sales. Jewellery retailer Caratlane reported a 30% increase in the average value of transactions.
