According to recent data released by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), India added 0.24 million GSM subscribers in the month of October 2012, taking the GSM subscriber base to 671.91 million. This reflects a 0.04% increase from previous month.
Airtel added the maximum number of new subscribers, i.e. 0.49 million – taking its user base to 186.41 million. It is followed by Vodafone, which added 0.48 million subscribers taking its user base to 153.15 million. Idea added 0.24 million users and its user base has reached the 115.70 million mark. Aircel added only 0.18 million new subscribers, taking its user base to 66.79 million. While BSNL didn’t gain any new subscribers, Uninor lost 1.10 million users taking its user base to 41.04 million.
