Designer Labels & Spa/Restaurant E-tailing Segment Registers 18% Growth – IAMAI

A recent Internet Economy Watch Report for August 2012, released by the Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), revealed that in the e-tailing category, designer labels and spa/restaurant segment clocked a 18% y-o-y growth respectively when compared with the numbers of corresponding month last year. In August 2012, the designer labels category registered 2.60 million visits as against 2.20 million visits in August 2011. During the same period, user visits to the spa/restaurant segment increased from 0.71 million to 0.84 million.

Data from popular e-tailing sites reveals a significant growth in online user visit to mobile phone segment with 5.05 million hits in August 2012 as compared to 4.92 million in August 2011. Online user visit for books which recorded 57% growth in July 2012, witnessed 1.60 million user visits in August 2012 as compared to 1.39 million in August 2011, a 14% y-o-y growth.

The e-ticketing segment at registered a 48% year-over-year growth during the same period. In August 2012, 1.49 million air-tickets were booked as against 1.19 million in August 2011, a 26% y-o-y growth.

The monthly tracker also reveals that the number of resume uploads in August 2012, has gone down to 1.99 million as compared to 2.60 million in August 2011. August 2012 saw a marginal growth of 6% in the number of profile uploads on matrimonial websites. In August 2012, around 2.18 million profiles were uploaded on matrimonial sites as compared to 2.05 million in the corresponding month last year.
