According to the latest data released by COAI, in June 2012 India added 4.64 million new GSM subscribers, a 0.69% increase since the previous month. However, the total GSM subscriber base in June 2012 has reduced to 677.35 million as compared to 677.85 million in May 2012.
Airtel added the maximum number of new subscribers, i.e. 2 million – taking its user base to 187.30 million. It is followed by Vodafone, which added 1.22 million subscribers taking its user base to 153.71 million. Idea added 1.2 million users and its user base has reached the 117.16 million mark. Aircel added 0.48 million new subscribers, Uninor added 0.50 million new users and MTNL added only 0.0002 million new users.
While BSNL didn’t gain any new users, Videocon lost 0.66 million subscribers taking its user base to 5.58 million and Loop telecom lost 0.11 million subscribers taking its user base to 3.15 million.
Maharashtra had the maximum number of subscriber addition of 6,21,124 – about 134% of the total subscriber additions in June. Growing at the rate of 0.294%, the A Circle is the fastest growing circle and forms 46.98% of the total additions during June 2012.
