Video:Intel's ‘Living Frames’ A glimpse into the future of intelligent displays

Vehicle manufacturers always keep a close eye on the developments in the CE world to predict what customers may expect from in-car infotainment systems in the future.

The ‘Living Frames’ project from Intel and the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design is one such example, which shows how even ordinary picture frames in the future can be intelligent and can make use of various advanced HMI elements such as voice recognition, face recognition and also real time content such as weather information to provide a rich user experience.

The key message here for OEMs is obviously not to anticipate a need for picture frames in the car, but how advanced features such as voice recognition and connected services may no longer be a ‘tick box’ in the vehicle price list, but may need to be an integral part of the overall connected infotainment platform to keep up with the rich user experiences that the CE world is heading towards.
